Daffodil Exhibition Awards

The National Daffodil Society of New Zealand recognizes outstanding exhibition New Zealand bred daffodils using three major awards. These awards were derived from similar awards given by the Royal Horticulatural Society. The awards and their criteria are as follows:

  1. Certificate of Preliminary Commendation (PC) – one stem. To be awarded to a new daffodil of great promise for exhibition. May be named and registered or a seedling.
  2. Award of Merit (AM) – nine stems. Cultivar must be named and registered, is to be of great merit for exhibition and to have proved its worth as an exhibition flower. The flowers presented for the award should be of excellent showable standard.
  3. First Class Certificate (FCC) – eighteen stems. Cultivar must be named and registered, is to be of great merit for exhibition and to have proved its worth as an exhibition flower. The cultivar must have been awarded at least three Premier Bloom Awards at National Shows. The flowers presented for the award should be of excellent showable standard.
